All About Lighting Modifiers

Many people shy away from using speed lights or strobes because they don’t like how bare bulb flash looks. Through the use of lighting modifiers, you can create almost any kind of lighting to suit your subject. This quick, one-hour course will explain how to and when to use reflectors, scrims, soft boxes, umbrellas, and more! We will demonstrate the way that each modifier affects the quality of light and discuss the situations that you can improve your photographs by using such tools.

Instructor: Steve Daubs

Steve’s passion for photography was born in the streets of Chicago followed by late nights in the darkroom in his college years at Northwestern University. Since then, he’s worked as a photojournalist, travel photographer, and, for the past 10 years, as a wedding and portrait photographer in Florida and Wisconsin. With more than a decade of experience teaching, he loves demystifying photographic concepts and helping people understand not only how to do something but why it matters.
