This class will take you through the complete process of large format photography.

Large format cameras have a rich history that spans over a century. These cameras are known for their large film or glass plate negatives and the ability to make precise adjustments for focus, perspective control, and depth of field. In this class you will learn the anatomy of a large format camera, loading film in holders, the steps needed to make an image, developing sheet film, and printing from a B&W 4x5 negative.

If you do not have a large format camera, PhotoMidwest has three monorail 4x5 camera kits you can reserve for this class.

1 on 1 Personalized Instruction



If you prefer more personalized instruction, The Camera Company offers 1 on 1 instruction. These sessions allow you to address only the topics you are interested in and answer your specific photography questions. Available in-person or virtually. $45 for each 30 minute block.

Minimum Registration

Camera Company classes need a minimum number of students to register before we can hold the class. If the minimum registration has not occurred within two days before the class date it will be cancelled. All students who enrolled in the class will be notified by email and will be offered to transfer their registration to another class offering or issued a full refund.
