Portrait Lighting Techniques on Location
his hands-on course will provide photographers instruction in finding, manipulating, and creating great portrait lighting on location. Using your camera and flash equipment, you’ll receive detailed instruction in:
- How to find good light in any situation
- Proper use of reflectors and scrims to control natural lighting on location
- How to use your on-camera flash to create natural-looking fill light and even out your scene
- The use of various off-camera flash techniques to make your portraits shine
Equipment needed: A DSLR or mirrorless camera and external flash unit, with or without a wireless trigger. Some familiarity with manual exposure settings will be helpful.

Instructor - Steve Daubs
Steve’s passion for photography was born in the streets of Chicago followed by late nights in the darkroom in his college years at Northwestern University. Since then, he’s worked as a photojournalist, travel photographer, and, for the past 10 years, as a wedding and portrait photographer in Florida and Wisconsin. With more than a decade of experience teaching, he loves demystifying photographic concepts and helping people understand not only how to do something but why it matters.

Minimum Registration
Camera Company classes need a minimum number of students to register before we can hold the class. If the minimum registration has not occurred within two days before the class date it will be cancelled. All students who enrolled in the class will be notified by email and will be offered to transfer their registration to another class offering or issued a full refund.
